Our story

I couldn’t find the kit, so I made it.

I’m Addison. I grew up racing bikes in Michigan, and Allora is the cycling clothing I always wanted to wear.

Where it started

I’m from Michigan, and I got on a bike at a very young age. My mom and dad took me out mountain biking as a kid.

I loved how fast I could go. I loved how confident it made me feel. And honestly, it was just so much fun.

I’ve always loved to race. I grew up racing in MISCA, the Michigan interscholastic cycling league, from a young age.

My favorite part of MISCA wasn’t only being on the Coyotes. It was all the friendships that came out of it. Two of my best friends came from that team, and I’ll always be grateful for that.

Cute or well-fitting. Never both.

The frustration started in high school. I couldn’t find anything that felt good and fit well, and also looked good. As a high schooler, that last part mattered so much.

Nothing was made with a woman’s body in mind. And it’s just a lot of fun to wear patterns and colors. Why should we have to give that up?

I knew I wanted to change that.

The idea that wouldn’t go away

The idea came straight out of that frustration.

Before long it was showing up in my schoolwork. In high school and college, whenever I had to develop a business idea and present on it, I presented the same one: women-specific cycling clothing.

One version was called Bike & Etc. I did a lot of these presentations, and two of those decks are right here.

Different assignments, same idea. It never went away.

The racing years

I raced through college, and then onto a development team.

Racing is where you find out fast what works and what doesn’t.

My freshman year, we were lucky enough to get our kits from the school. But when I placed my order, I accidentally picked the short option for my bibs.

I remember the first race I wore them in. My butt was basically hanging out the end. Not a good look.

That moment gave me the inspiration to start something customizable, so women can choose how they want their clothing to fit.

The development team was Bissell ABG, and I raced with them for two years. It was a big step up into larger races and more training. It was a lot of fun with a great team, and full of awesome learning moments.

Allora is alive

That idea is real now.

I’m excited to share cycling clothing that is made to fit a female body, with specifications chosen by women, for women.

Now that Allora is live, it means so much to me. This is a passion I’ve had for a very long time.

I’ve talked to over 100 women who have felt the same frustration, and who are just as excited as I am. That’s who I’m building this for.
